MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Strengthening cooperation with Oman is a new step in the development of Belarus’ relations with the Global South, economic expert, head of the Aksios educational center of Giprosvyaz Yuliya Abukhovich said in a new episode of BelTA’s YouTube project V Teme [On Point].
“Strengthening cooperation with Oman is a new step in the development of Belarus’ relations with the Global South. Oman has the potential to serve as a logistics hub for our exports to North Africa and the Persian Gulf,” Yuliya Abukhovich said.

Speaking about bilateral cooperation, the expert noted Oman’s strategic shift from a purely oil-reliant economy towards diversification. In her opinion, Belarus can offer Oman a comprehensive solution to this task.

“Oman is ready to invest not only in the development of trade but also, for example, in the construction of a pulp and paper mill. Countries like Oman need timber. The construction of the plant and investments in it are a strategic move that will both create jobs and bring additional benefits to both Belarus and Oman,” Yuliya Abukhovich said.

The expert also noted that Belarus and Oman have signed a visa waiver agreement, which is an important step to advance humanitarian cooperation. “This step will open up a new country and culture for us, allowing us to build a closer relationship with our new partner,” she said.

Overall, Belarus-Oman relations are built on trust, Yuliya Abukhovich added. “The fact that Oman pursued such cooperation means that it trusts Belarus. Our country has proven that we fulfill our commitments. We are eager to open our doors to those who seek peaceful cooperation,” the expert said.
