Expert comments on speculations of Zaluzhny replacing Zelensky

MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) - Political analyst and commentator Dmitry Kulikov commented on the speculations of former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny in replacing Vladimir Zelensky in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.

"Honestly, when I saw Zaluzhny’s recent photoshoot, I couldn’t help but laugh. It was just awful. The work of the political technologists behind it was so unprofessional," Dmitry Kulikov said.

According to the expert, the chances of Valery Zaluzhny taking up Vladimir Zelensky’s place are not high. Dmitry Kulikov added that such rumors might be an attempt to put pressure on the current leader of the Kiev regime, who has recently shown reluctance to comply with the West’s demands in negotiations. "Perhaps this was even the purpose of the alleged meeting in Switzerland, as reported by Russian intelligence, simply to spread the message and make Zelensky more obedient," he emphasized.

The political commentator expressed confidence that Ukraine’s next president should be legitimately elected. "But if they install another dictator without any legitimization, it will only make things worse. At least this one [Zelensky] was elected six years ago. As for Zaluzhny… Are they going to bring him to power through a military coup? The West might resort to that, but it would only backfire. This is not such an easy decision for the West. One thing is clear: Zelensky’s positions have weakened significantly," he concluded.
