Expert: Belarus, Russia pay close attention to preserving technological sovereignty

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia pay great attention to preserving technological sovereignty, Russian politician and public figure, chairman of the Development Movement Yury Krupnov said in an interview with Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

December will mark the 25th anniversary of the Union State Treaty. “In fact, we have our economies focused on each other. We are integrated in a market format, and this is a huge benefit for our Union State,” Yury Krupnov said. About 90% of all payments in Russian-Belarusian commercial transactions are made in national currencies. According to the expert, this is an absolutely natural moment for the Union State.

In his words, it is important to work out a model for preserving one’s economic and technological sovereignty. Belarus and Russia are succeeding in this, the expert emphasized.

He also touched upon the interaction of the Union State with China. “The type of cooperation with China, which Belarus and Russia demonstrate, is a search for a model of mutually beneficial cooperation without economic threats to each other. China, of course, strengthens us, gives us opportunities that have been cut off by the European Union, the USA, Japan and the Republic of Korea,” Yury Krupnov said.
