Exhibition dedicated to Belarusian poet Yanka Kupala on display in Argentina

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – An exhibition dedicated to Belarusian outstanding poet Yanka Kupala is on display in Argentina, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Buenos Aires.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Belarus' diplomatic service, the National Congress of Argentina hosted a diplomatic reception and a ceremony to open the Yanka Kupala exhibition. The event organized by the Belarusian diplomatic mission was attended by more than 100 representatives of the Argentine public administration, the diplomatic corps and the Belarusian Diaspora.

In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Argentina Vladimir Astapenko stressed the importance of Yanka Kupala's works in the formation of the Belarusian identity and the development of the national state. He also read out the lines from the famous poem “A Khto Tam Idze?” (And, Say, Who Goes There?). Director of the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum Elena Leshkovich addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, too. She emphasized the importance of the heritage of the Belarusian poet and international recognition of his works.

During the event, representatives of the Belarusian Diaspora sang songs and recited poems of the famous writer.
