Electronic queue system to be introduced at international border checkpoint Brest

BREST, 15 May (BelTA) – The electronic queue management system will be introduced at the international border checkpoint Brest, head of the border control department of the State Border Committee Oleg Lyashuk said at the meeting of officials of the border control departments and offices on 14 May, BelTA has learned.

The passenger throughput at the checkpoint, most widely known as the border crossing Warsaw Bridge, is big. It is crossed by nearly 2,500 transport vehicles and over 4,000 people per day. The electronic queue system will make travelling for drivers and passengers considerably easier. “A service zone will be additionally created for road users to have a rest,” Oleg Lyashuk said.

The electronic queue management system has already been tested in Belarus at the border checkpoint Kozlovichi and placed in trial operation at the border checkpoint Kamenny Log in Oshmyany District. The State Customs Committee has launched an experimental preliminary electronic declaration of goods physical persons carry across the border for personal use at the Warsaw Bridge from 30 April till 1 September.

On 13-15 May Brest hosted a meeting of officials of the border control departments and offices with the participation of Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Leonid Maltsev. Border officers shared experience and theoretical knowledge.
