MINSK DISTRICT, 7 November (BelTA) - On behalf of the Belarusian president, spokeswoman for the head of state Natalya Eismont greeted the participants of the fourth wood chopping challenge among media representatives on the shore of the Vyacha Reservoir in Minsk District on 7 November, BelTA has learned.
“It's very nice that we are gathering here for the fourth year in a row. Thank you for coming and supporting our tradition. The anthem of the challenge says: 'Autumn is here, the president sets a new trend.' We are truly part of this trend. I have come out on this stage for a reason. My most important and pleasant mission is to greet all of you and convey traditional warm working greetings from our president. He is literally working 300 km from here at this moment. We all understand the reasons why. The president is always where he needs to be. But we also know that he is always here with us,” Natalya Eismont said.
She also noted that a record number of teams are participating in this year's challenge. “We received a record number of applications. Some even had to merge teams in order to participate. That’s also great. As we have said we're already planning the fifth edition. We already have some developments and ideas. We want to propose something new and interesting, both in terms of scale and content. But that lies ahead. Today, I have no doubt that the strongest will prevail. We will have a truly fair competition, and we will simply have an excellent day,” the spokesperson for the Belarusian president emphasized.

The participants of the wood chopping challenge will compete for the top spot in various disciplines, including firewood chopping, log cutting with an axe, presidential-style wood chopping, a relay race, and contests.
