MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – The decision to deploy Oreshnik missile systems in Belarus’ territory has been made in response to the steps being taken by the United States of America and Germany to deploy medium-range missiles in Europe, BelTA learned from Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Sergei Lagodyuk.
Sergei Lagodyuk said: “The decision to deploy Oreshnik missile systems in the territory of the Republic of Belarus has been made in response to the steps being taken by the United States and Germany to deploy medium-range missiles in Europe.”
Americans and Germans have repeatedly talked about it previously, the officer stressed. “We have been assigned a task by our commander-in-chief: our defense industry will work with Russian specialists to continue developing this weapon. Active participation in these processes is due to the fact that the level of manufacturing localization contributed by our enterprises to this weapon is already very high,” Sergei Lagodyuk stressed.
