MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – The Republic of Belarus is in favor of constructive interaction with the European Union while the policy of European Union countries is aimed at aggravation, at preparations for war. Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department, Aide for International Military Cooperation to the Belarusian Defense Minister Valery Revenko made the relevant statement on the air of the Belarusian Defense Ministry’s TV channel VoyenTV, BelTA has learned.

Valery Revenko stressed that despite any challenges, despite any provocations Belarus is intent on demonstrating that the republic stands for constructive interaction. “We’ve invited practically all the European Union member states, the OSCE Secretariat [to observe the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2025] so that they could watch our exercise with their own eyes, so that they could clearly understand that we focus on the defensive. Most of the European Union member states ignored our invitation. Why? Because their policy is geared towards aggravation, at preparations for war. They absolutely don’t hide it. And respectively they would get no benefit from seeing our reality on the ground,” the chief of the International Military Cooperation Department stated.

Valery Revenko added that about 150 reporters from 15 states had been invited to the exercise. “We explained everything precisely. We clearly demonstrated all the concepts of our exercise,” he stressed.

The Belarusian defense minister’s aide also drew attention to the fact that the International Conference on Eurasian Security held in Minsk in late October had demonstrated that opinions differ in the West. “There are the opinions that share the position of the Republic of Belarus. They confirm that our state is intent on constructive interaction, on peaceful initiatives,” the chief of the International Military Cooperation Department emphasized.

In his words, the conference was a very good dialogue platform. “It was not only about speeches but also conversations on the sidelines, discussions of the political situation in certain circles and communities, which study the position or some political situation in any region of the world [including] our region. In other words, it offers us a great opportunity for promoting initiatives of the Republic of Belarus, our narratives. It offers an opportunity to convey our position to the West,” Valery Revenko noted.
