MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) - Cooperation with Belarusian partners is of strategic importance for Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Territory, Governor of Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov said during a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 19 May, BelTA has learned.
Mikhail Kotyukov expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit Belarus and the opportunity to meet. "I am happy to be here in Minsk in the year of the Great Victory anniversary. From the first days of the war, Krasnoyarsk residents fought the enemy at Brest Fortress and ultimately pushed them back to Berlin. Our fellow countryman, Ilya Kuznetsov, engaged in the first battle at the northern gates of Brest Fortress, then fought in the citadel, suffering multiple injuries. But through a miracle, or perhaps due to Siberian resilience and character, he managed to escape the captured fortress and eventually reached Berlin. A total of 21 residents of Krasnoyarsk Territory were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for their role in liberating Belarus. We are proud of them," he said.

The governor emphasized the significance of preserving common historical memory and passing it on to younger generations. "Young people must know that we have a common heroic past, a long-standing friendship, and close economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties. I am confident that we can significantly develop these areas together," he stressed.
Mikhail Kotyukov also pointed out that Krasnoyarsk Territory is one of Russia’s most economically developed regions, ranking among the top ten in key indicators.

"Cooperation with Belarusian partners is of strategic importance to us. Last year mutual trade grew by 7%, in January-February 2025 - rose by 14% year on year. Therefore, trade of over $200 million is certainly not the limit. This is merely another milestone that we can easily surpass," he emphasized.
Mutual trade between Belarus and Krasnoyarsk Territory reached its highest level in 2022: nearly $234 million. In 2023, trade slightly declined, but in 2024, it grew again, exceeding $221 million. Belarusian exports steadily increased during this period, reaching $141.5 million last year, which was 20% higher than in 2023. Belarus’ major export to the Russian region includes special-purpose vehicles, compounds containing nitrile functional groups, electrical transformers, auto and tractor parts and accessories, household and other electric heating devices, and electric stoves.
