Brest Fortress welcomes 25-millionth visitor

BREST, 22 May (BelTA) – The Brest Fortress Memorial Complex welcomed its 25-millionth visitor on 22 May, BelTA learned from director of the memorial complex Grigory Bysyuk.

As expected, the museum passed this milestone in late May, welcoming the 25-millionth visitor on 22 May. “A six year old girl from Moscow has become our 25-millionth visitor. She has come to Belarus with her parents on a short vacation. They decided to visit the Brest Fortress and its museums among other places,” Grigory Bysyuk said. The family received souvenirs and presents from the memorial complex and were taken on an excursion.

The Brest Fortress Memorial Complex traces its history back to 8 November 1956 when the Museum of Defense opened. It displayed only thirteen photos in two exhibition halls then. At the time, up to 60,000 people visited the Brest Fortress annually while over 520,000 tourists from 51 countries visited the memorial in 2018.
