Belarusians living in EAEU, Moldova to receive pensions in local currency

MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) - Belarusians living in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Moldova will be able to receive pensions in the currency of the country of residence, BelTA learned from Belarusbank.

This has become possible after Belarusbank opened multi-currency accounts in the Interstate Bank (Moscow, Russia) to service the agreement on pension provision in the Eurasian Economic Union and the social security agreement between Belarus and Moldova.

The bank explained that this gives a possibility to transfer money to pay Belarusian pensions to those who live in the EAEU countries (Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) and Moldova in the national currency of the recipient's country of residence and to make international payments to the bank's clients in the currencies of the EAEU countries and Moldova.

The Interstate Bank was established in 1993 by ten CIS states. It is an international banking settlement and credit institution tasked with assisting economic integration and development of CIS national economies. Currently, the member countries of the bank are Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Armenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan.
