MOSCOW, 12 December (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko addressed a meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Moscow and suggested holding the CIS Forum of Regions, BelTA learned.
“I would like to emphasize the importance of promoting interregional economic cooperation in the CIS. We believe that this would be facilitated by holding the first CIS Forum of Regions. Belarus and Russia have already held 11 regional forums. We know that other countries also practice this format of interaction. Therefore, we propose to try to organize such an event, but in a broader CIS format,” Roman Golovchenko said.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that direct cooperation, partnership and ties have been established between many regions of the CIS countries. “Let's think about it. I think we will all support this idea. Sergei Nikolayevich [Lebedev, CIS Secretary General] will you please think about where we could hold the first forum,” he added.
