BREST DISTRICT, 2 December (BelTA) - During the New Year holidays, Belarusian health resorts will be operating at 100% capacity, Director of the National Center for Recuperation and Health Resort Treatment Gennady Bolbatovsky told the media, BelTA has learned.
“Based on the results of January-September, we see a positive trend in the main performance indicators. Our occupancy rate has exceeded 85%. Total revenue has grown by about 18%, and revenue from the export of tourism services has also increased. According to forecasts, the indicators will not be lower by the end of the year. As for the New Year holidays, health resorts will be fully 100% booked. Today, there are practically no places left,” Gennady Bolbatovsky said. The average annual occupancy rate is expected to be higher this year than in 2024. According to forecasts, it will exceed 86%. Traditionally, over 90% of visitors purchase vouchers to Belarusian medically-focused health resorts to combine leisure with medical treatment programs.
The Solnechny health resort in Brest District played host to a meeting of the working group on the development of health and wellness tourism at the interdepartmental tourism council under the Council of Ministers of Belarus. Specialists reviewed the operation of medically-focused health resorts in Brest Oblast during the New Year and Christmas holidays and on attracting foreign tourists.
Medically-focused health resorts intend to enhance the effectiveness of medical treatment and procedures by relying on scientific foundations. In particular, they are focusing on developing spa services. "Belarusian health resorts have the unique opportunity to provide these services using mineral waters. There are 99 mineral water wells operating on the grounds of our health resorts. We will more actively promote the use of our country's natural potential,” Gennady Bolbatovsky said.
There are 97 medically-focused health resorts in Belarus, with a total capacity of nearly 28,000 beds and also 42 health-improvement organizations with 10,000 beds. Belarusian health resorts attract customers from Belarus and several dozen countries.
