MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) - Two Belarusian films produced by the Belarusfilm studio, “The Song of the Sirin” and “The Black Castle”, won awards at the 7th International Eurasian Creative Guild (ECG) Film Festival held in Romford, London, United Kingdom, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusfilm studio.
This year's festival featured films from 23 countries. "The Black Castle" won in the Recognition category. "The Song of the Sirin" received the Best Animated Film award. The Embassy of Belarus in the United Kingdom presented the films at the festival.
Director of "The Song of the Sirin" Yelena Turova stressed that she is happy for the studio and team, who spent several years working on the project. "It is great that we were able to capture the jury’s interest with Slavic epics. Myths and legends form an essential part of the cultural identity that distinguishes different nations. While ancient Greek, Scandinavian, and Egyptian mythologies are widely known, our stories unfortunately have not been preserved in writing," she noted.
“It was important for us to showcase Slavic folklore and prove that it holds just as much depth and richness as more widely recognized traditions. The team carefully gathered historical details and researched traditional costumes, museum artifacts, household ornamentation, embroidery, and folk songs. I’d like to thank and congratulate everyone involved in this project. We will continue bringing fairy tales to the big screen,” Yelena Turova added.
The ECG Film Festival aims to promote films focused on culture, history, and the artistic voices of Eurasian nations, introducing British audiences to new names, stories, and visual styles.
