Belarusian film Black Castle premieres in Hanoi

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – On 11 December, Hanoi University hosted a premiere screening of the feature film “The Black Castle”, produced by Belarusfilm in 2024, with the support of the Belarusian Embassy in Vietnam, BelTA learned from the Belarusian foreign mission in Vietnam.

The event was dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Vladimir Korotkevich, a prominent figure in modern Belarusian literature. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vladimir Borovikov highlighted Vladimir Korotkevich’s significant contribution to national literature and noted the popularity of his works in Belarus and abroad, including in Vietnam, where his novel “King Stakh's Wild Hunt” has been translated into Vietnamese. He emphasized the important role of cinema in promoting Belarusian history, traditions and culture abroad and in expanding cultural ties between countries.

The premiere brought together over 150 representatives of Vietnamese public circles, the diplomatic community, university faculty and students.

On the same day, Ambassador Vladimir Borovikov met with Hanoi University President Nguyen Van Trao. The parties discussed prospects for developing cooperation and establishing direct links with Belarusian universities, including the Belarusian State University of Foreign Languages. The university library received 40 copies of a collection of poems in Vietnamese by Belarus’ national poet Yanka Kupala.
