Belarusian delegation to take part in Atomexpo 2019 in Sochi

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation will take part in the 11th international forum Atomexpo, which is due in Sochi on 15-16 April, BelTA has learned.

It will be the fifth time Belarusian nuclear industry representatives have taken part in the forum. The exhibition stand of the Belarusian nuclear power plant under construction is always popular with Atomexpo visitors, the organizers noted.

This year's Atomexpo will focus on the contribution of cutting-edge nuclear technologies to reaching the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Atomexpo participants are expected to discuss global challenges in developing carbon-free energy industry, a responsible approach to environment and natural resources, green investments, international partnership for the sake of sustainable development. The key topics of roundtable sessions and panel sessions will include non-energy applications of nuclear and radiation technologies in the production sector, science, healthcare, agriculture, knowledge preservation, propagation of cutting-edge managerial decisions, and assimilation of digital technologies for the development of the urban infrastructure and for raising living standards. The business program is expected to include events of international partners of the forum such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) under the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), and the World Nuclear Association (WNA). Their participants intend to discuss topical aspects of development of nuclear industry.

During the expo visitors will be able to get familiar with a broad range of applications for nuclear technologies. The exhibition area will exceed 13,000m2. On the opening day Atomexpo Awards laureates will be lauded. It is an international professional award bestowed upon companies for outstanding accomplishments in the development of nuclear energy and the use of nuclear energy for the mankind's benefit. The awards premiered during Atomexpo in 2018.

Last year's Atomexpo gathered over 4,000 delegates and visitors from 68 countries (65 countries in 2017 and 55 in 2016). The exhibition area exceeded 20,000m2 (12,000m2in 2017). The total number of participating companies exceeded 600. As many as 39 agreements and other documents on cooperation and partnership, including commercial contracts, were signed on the sidelines of Atomexpo 2018. OOO Atomexpo is the forum's operator.
