Belarusian Afghan community thanks Belarusians for helping refugees trapped on border

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – We are very grateful that the Belarusian people are helping the refugees at the border, Safi Saifurahman Mahamedjan, chairman of the international charitable public organization of Afghan refugees "Afghan Community", told reporters on 17 November, BelTA has learned.

According to him, Afghanistan, like no one else, experienced the consequences of the intervention of the collective West, a migration crisis among them. "The war in Afghanistan was not our war. It was waged by other countries. Millions of Afghans have been forced to move to other countries. In our homeland, everything is destroyed. There's nothing left there for a peaceful life," Safi Saifurahman Mahamedjan said. “Currently, many refugees are trapped on the Belarusian-Polish border. These people want to live, to keep their children alive. They came to Belarus to get into Western countries and secure a good future for themselves and their families."

The Afghan community collected humanitarian aid and handed over to the refugees at the border. "This situation is very painful to watch. There are children, the elderly, women, young people who can die from hunger and cold. We are very thankful to the Belarusian kind people, the state for helping them. Everyone makes a feasible contribution,” the chairman of the organization emphasized. “On behalf of our long-suffering people, all Afghans, I want to ask the EU leadership to immediately stop this mess and take the refugees in. When it gets even colder, they can die right on the spot. Women, men and children must not be allowed to die. Quick action is needed badly.”

In turn, the chairman of the international public association "Palestinian Community" El-Wadia Ibrahim Mustafa stressed that it is important to support the refugees. "Today we are gathering with our fellow countrymen to collect the things that the refugees need. Someone promised them that Europe is a paradise. But in reality, this is not the case, and you can see what is happening at the border: refugees are not welcome there. Therefore, we must meet with them to explain the real situation, to explain what awaits them."
