Belarus' technical university hosts Chinese delegation

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) is hosting a delegation of 23 Chinese universities, BelTA has learned.

The visit of the Chinese delegation is meant to boost cooperation in education, launch academic exchange programs, training and retraining courses, the Chinese language courses. The delegation includes 47 representatives of such Chinese universities as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Jilin University, Harbin Engineering University, and Shanghai University.

“We have a lot of plans for cooperation with Chinese partners and this visit will strengthen our relations. We intend to discuss promising cooperation areas such as training in technical majors, implementing joint educational programs, and others,” BNTU Vice Rector for Education Yuri Nikolaichik said.

According to him, 60 students from China are currently studying in the BNTU. “Chinese students form the second biggest group of foreign students in the university. We are already implementing joint projects with a lot of Chinese universities, which will enable us to enroll more students from China in the future,” Yury Nikolaychik noted.

The BNTU is home to the Confucius Institute on Science and Technology. The institute trains engineers with the knowledge of the Chinese language and also aims to boost scientific and technical cooperation.

“Our aim is to launch more international exchange programs between the BNTU and Chinese universities. We want to offer the BNTU students easier access to education in China,” Tsinghua University representative Pan Jing Zhong said. He also commended the level of Chinese students' training in the BNTU.
