MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia will improve mechanisms of cooperation between their customs services to ensure the application of uniform conditions for the movement of goods and vehicles, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus following a meeting between State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Sergey Glazyev and Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky.

Issues of Belarus-Russia integration in the customs sphere were discussed in Minsk at the Interstate Center of the Union State Customs Committee, a body with no equivalent in the Eurasian Economic Union.
Sergey Glazyev highlighted the successful cooperation between the Federal Customs Service of Russia and the State Customs Committee of Belarus in safeguarding the Union State’s foreign economic activity, as well as the significant contribution of the Interstate Center to this work.

Vladimir Orlovsky confirmed that the operation of such a structure allows developing a consistent practice of customs administration and law enforcement across the two countries.

“Participants of the meeting paid particular attention to improving cooperation mechanisms,” the press service noted.

The Interstate Center was launched in December 2022. It was established within the structure of the Union State Customs Committee amid challenging economic conditions to promote uniform customs administration practices across the Union State. Its tasks include monitoring customs operations, drafting proposals for customs control, conducting analysis, and coordinating the work of mobile groups.
