MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian military aircraft with a batch of 1.1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine produced by Sinopharm Corporation (Vero Cell) on board has arrived at Machulishchi airfield from the People's Republic of China, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
The crew of the military transport aircraft flew the Machulishchi-Beijing-Machulishchi route, covering a total of about 13,500km. The flight took 19.5 hours with stops for refueling in Russia. The military pilots crossed five time zones in each direction.
“This is not the first such flight to and from the People's Republic of China. The airbase performs a wide range of tasks, including as part of international cooperation,” the Defense Ministry said.
The Vero Cell vaccine has already established itself as an effective tool against the novel coronavirus infection. It also helps to avoid a severe course of the disease and complications.
