MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Belarus is not considering imposing an entry ban for foreign residents who have visited China, spokesperson for the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry Yuliya Borodun told BelTA.
“Taking into account the last recommendations of the World Health Organization, we are not considering closing the border,” Yuliya Borodun noted.
As Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik stated earlier, Belarusians have no grounds for panic. “The most effective way to fight with panic is to raise awareness. We are not trying to hide anything. We are absolutely open. It is the position of the Healthcare Ministry because the absence of information causes all kinds of rumors and panic. The ministry has a website where citizens can ask their questions, we also have accounts in social networks. If citizens have questions that are bothering them, they are welcome to ask the ministry about them directly,” Vladimir Karanik said.
Belarus has registered no cases of COVID-19. At the same time, on 30 January sanitary and epidemiological services, emergency medical aid services, polyclinics and hospitals were placed on a high alert.
Around 5,000 Chinese students are studying in Belarus. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, most of them did not go to China and did not leave Belarus during their vacations.
