MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The National Library of Belarus and Kazakhstan’s National Center of Manuscripts and Rare Books of the Committee for Archives and Documentation Management of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Culture and Information have signed a cooperation agreement during the international congress The Library as a Cultural Phenomenon in Minsk on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
Director General of the National Library of Belarus Vadim Gigin noted that an exchange of expertise with Kazakh colleagues last year had uncovered a wide range of avenues for cooperation. Close joint efforts are planned, especially in restoring books of historical importance.
“In the future, we will move from words to deeds in driving major scientific research projects. I hope this will be a long-term agreement, forging an everlasting bond between our libraries and serving as a great example of cooperation for other CIS countries,” Director of Kazakhstan’s National Center of Manuscripts and Rare Books Zhandos Boldykov said.
According to Vadim Gigin, the signing is more than a formality, it solidifies a partnership that will both preserve the cultural heritage of the two nations and enhance the exchange of experience and resources for preserving and promoting rare and unique library collections.
