Belarus' Liberal Democratic Party: Sanctions are a means to pressure government, people

MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) - Any sanctions are a pressure not only on the government but also on its people, the Supreme Council and the Central Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus say in their statement, BelTA has learned.

“We are convinced that every politician, every Belarusian, regardless of political beliefs, must defend the national interests and statehood of their country. Any politician must put the interests of the state above his/her own political ambitions and personal gain. Any calls for sanctions and restrictions can only be regarded as a betrayal of the country's interests. Any sanctions are an interference in the internal affairs of Belarus. Any sanctions are a pressure not only on the state but also on its people. We are convinced that only the Belarusian people should decide any issues within the country,” the statement runs.

The Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus supports the statement “On the violation of workers' rights by the European Union” and the open letter of trade unions and workers of Belarus to the International Labor Organization.
