LYUBAN DISTRICT, 16 January (BelTA) – A large-scale comprehensive inspection of the Armed Forces has begun on the order of Aleksandr Lukashenko, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich told the media, BelTA has learned.
“On the president’s instruction, a large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces has been launched. It will be comprehensive and carried out in several stages. The inspection measures are of a sudden nature,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
According to him, the inspection also takes into account the experience of the special military operation and its integration into the troops. Among other things, it will examine the protection of military units and countermeasures against modern weapons, particularly unmanned aerial vehicles.
“The plan of the inspection was approved by the president. He stated that he will personally take part in the inspection. He will decide himself which units and at what time,” state secretary noted.
The first unit to be inspected is the technical support unit. It is one of the largest formations of the Armed Forces, where various types of armored weapons and military equipment are stored.
“A group suddenly arrived and handed an order to the commander of the military unit. A report was heard on the situation at the weapons and military equipment storage base. In November of last year, this unit was inspected by a working group from the State Secretariat of the Security Council and the State Control Committee. During the current inspection, the plan to eliminate the shortcomings identified last year will be reviewed,” Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.
He added that the results of the inspection will be analyzed later: “We will see how, within the timeframes set by regulations, various types of armored weapons are withdrawn from storage. It has been decided to remove several samples of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and armored personnel carriers from storage by the unit itself, without involving additional resources.”
The final stage will be a test run of the withdrawn weapons and military equipment over a distance of about 15-20 km. “This will be included in the overall review plan of the Armed Forces and reported to the president of the Republic of Belarus,” Aleksandr Volfovich summarized.
