MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – A working meeting between First Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Belarus Oleg Shandarovich and a delegation of the Financial Monitoring Agency of Kazakhstan headed by its First Deputy Chairman Ulan Raisov was held at the central office of the Belarusian Investigative Committee, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Investigative Committee.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to combating financial crime and strengthening interagency cooperation. Consideration was given to the exchange of information on tracking the criminal use of payment methods, the laundering of stolen funds, and the legalization of illicit proceeds.

A key area of discussion focused on the possibility of establishing joint investigative and operational groups to handle related crimes and the procedure for the participation of investigators from Kazakhstan’s Financial Monitoring Agency in their work. “The Investigative Committee of Belarus has positive experience in setting up investigative and operational groups to investigate crimes in information and communication technologies with the competent authorities of the CIS member states. We are eager to share our expertise and see great potential in developing our cooperation,” Oleg Shandarovich noted.

The exchange of experience in investigating online gambling operations was discussed as a separate topic. “We view this cooperation as a contribution to strengthening the financial security not only of our states but of the entire region. I am confident that the joint initiatives of Belarus and Kazakhstan will become an example of effective partnership and will contribute to the development of trust and sustainable ties between our countries,” Ulan Raisov emphasized.

The prospects for cooperation between the Institute of the Investigative Committee of Belarus and the Academy of Financial Monitoring of Kazakhstan were another significant topic. The parties expressed readiness to advance cooperation in education and science.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to continue the dialogue and implement concrete steps to deepen cooperation.
