Belarus gets two more Su-30SM fighter jets

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Another pair of Su-30SM fighter jets arrived in Belarus on 20 November, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Two multirole fighter jets Su-30SM landed at the airfield of an airbase in Baranovichi, Brest Oblast. “Thus, commitments specified by the contract on delivering combat aircraft in 2019 have been fulfilled,” the source noted.

BelTA reported earlier that the contract to buy these aircraft was signed in 2017. In line with the contract the Russian manufacturer was supposed to deliver the first wing of four Su-30SM fighter jets to Belarus in 2019. The contract was signed in order to renew the aircraft fleet. The Belarusian army intends to buy a total of 12 fighter jets.
