MINSK, 24 December (BelTA) – President of Belarus’ National Olympic Committee (NOC) Viktor Lukashenko has summarized results of the outgoing year in sport as the ceremony to present awards from the National Olympic Committee began, BelTA has learned.

The head of Belarus’ NOC noted that in 2025 Belarusians once again witnessed how strong and talented their compatriots are. “Our athletes achieved victories at the biggest international competitions in swimming and rowing, wrestling and trampoline jumping, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, hockey and biathlon, beach football, and other sports. The athletes impressed us with their achievements and presented unforgettable emotions to us. We were also delighted by the younger generation, who made a loud statement about themselves at the world level. I am confident that they will soon be among the strongest athletes and we will see their names among winners of our award,” Viktor Lukashenko said.

The NOC head also noted positive changes in the international agenda. “The election of the new IOC president inspires confidence in a more constructive approach based on the fundamental principles of Olympism. All the announced decisions regarding the admission of young athletes with the flag and the anthem and the return of major competitions to Belarus represent more steps towards our main goal, which is the full restoration of the rights of Belarusian athletes in the world arena,” he said.

Apart from that, Viktor Lukashenko thanked the athletes for their courage, strength of spirit, and patience. “Despite external circumstances they do not give up and continue training. They become stronger and more resilient. They get better every day and remain united in their aspirations for victory, justice, honesty, and love for the Motherland. I am confident that most of our talented athletes have their main starts, victories, and successes ahead of them,” he said.

The best athletes, coaches, and teams who have achieved the most significant results in the outgoing year have been nominated for Belarus’ NOC awards. Guests of the event included Olympic champions and medalists, renowned athletes, NOC members, and honored figures in physical culture and sport.
