MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) - Belarus has developed an efficient system of measures to counteract cyberattacks, Deputy Director of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR) Pavel Lyogky told the media at a meeting in the House of Representatives to discuss the current state and areas of improving the legislation regulating the protection of information and cybersecurity on 30 October, BelTA has learned.
“The problems that exist today in the area of information security keep accumulating. The problems that were relevant, let us say, for the beginning of the information digital age, have not gone anywhere; new ones are added to them all the time. That is why it is very important and necessary to talk about information security issues and pay much more attention to it,” Pavel Lyogky said.
It is obvious that cyberattacks will only intensify during the presidential election campaign. “Of course, the political campaign is a direct target of information attacks, their intensification. There is a whole complex of measures here. There are measures both long-term and short-term. Belarus has developed a system of countermeasures. Everything just has to work well,” the BISR deputy director added.
The event participants are set to discuss ensuring national security of Belarus in the information sector, state management and regulation in the areas of information protection and cybersecurity, prospects for the development of cybersecurity, new challenges and threats of the digital age, judicial practice in cases of crimes against computer security.
