MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast have agreed to hold Days of Culture, Kaliningrad Oblast Governor Alexey Besprozvannykh told the media following the 20th meeting of the Belarusian-Russian Council on Long-Term Cooperation between the Regions, Ministries, and State Administration Bodies of Belarus and Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
Next year the region will celebrate its 80th anniversary. “As part of this event, Days of Belarus in Kaliningrad Oblast and Days of Kaliningrad Oblast in Belarus will be held, which will allow us to get to know each other even better and to showcase the priorities and advantages for Belarus,” the governor said.

Speaking about cooperation, he noted that it was important for the parties to stop the decline in trade and begin a stage of growth.
“The result of this work is a 3% increase in H1 2025. This indicates that, despite logistical constraints, we are moving to a new level of development of our relations in all areas. Belarus has become the region’s second largest foreign trade partner, with a share reaching 10%. This is quite significant, and we see potential for further development,” the governor said.
The anniversary meeting of the Council coincided with the large-scale INNOPROM. Belarus industrial expo, where business representatives reached agreements on cooperation in industry, agriculture, science, and water treatment, with tourism also discussed.

Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko emphasized that key issues of interaction had been outlined. “Approaches to increasing trade with our close partner have been mapped out,” Yuri Shuleiko noted.

Following the meeting, a protocol of the Council meeting was signed, alongside an agreement on cooperation and joint activities between the Minsk National Airport and the Kaliningrad Amber Combine, and an agreement on international foreign economic ties between Kaliningrad Oblast and Grodno Oblast.
