MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Igor Karpenko has identified the priority tasks the CEC has to accomplish in the period between elections, BelTA has learned.
The priorities will include efforts to improve the electoral culture of the population and of young people. The matter is the main item on the agenda of today’s Central Election Commission session.
The training of potential organizers of elections will be organized. Since September 2022 the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus has been offering career enhancement training in the theory and the practice of the election process. Work has been organized to enhance the training of the same category of students in regional education development institutions. The CEC in association with the scientific and pedagogical community has worked out a learning kit and has published a practical guide on the theory and the practice of the election process in the Republic of Belarus.
International cooperation represents another priority area. The expansion of the geography of international observation of elections, Belarus’ CEC’s productive work as part of the advisory board of heads of election bodies of the CIS member states, the international electoral forums and science to practice conferences that are organized in the country have allowed consolidating the expert community.
