Belarus’ border agency: Around 6,500 vehicles queue at EU border after weekend

MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) - Nearly 6,500 transport vehicles are queuing at the Belarusian border to enter the EU after the weekend, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.

The queue at the only operating Polish border checkpoint for passenger cars Terespol (Brest on the Belarusian side) has increased by 1,400 vehicles since Friday, 31 October. Here 2,525 passenger cars and 122 buses are waiting to enter Poland. Over the past two days, the neighboring side has cleared 33% of the normal number of vehicles.

The busiest route for trucks entering the European Union is the Kukuriki border checkpoint (Kozlovichi on the Belarusian side), where 2,045 heavy trucks are queuing up to enter the EU. Over the weekend, the neighboring side handled 57% of the normal number of freight vehicles.

Some 520 trucks are waiting near the Latvian border checkpoint Paternieki (Grigorovshchina on the Belarusian side) where 37% of vehicles was checked out to enter Latvia. 

A total of 1,260 trucks are queuing up at the Lithuanian border checkpoint at Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side ) and Šalčininkai (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side).
