MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) - The level of access to the centralized water supply system in Belarus is one of the highest in the world, First Deputy Minister of Housing and Public Utilities of Belarus Andrei Beketa said in an interview to the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned.
“The main parameter characterizing the level of development of the water supply and sanitation system is an access to centralized water supply and wastewater treatment systems. Today, the level of access in Belarus is one of the highest levels in the world: 93.2% and 80.8% respectively. Belarus is the leader among the CIS countries. This indicator has been achieved due to the construction of new water supply networks and water deferrization stations,” Andrei Beketa stated.
The Belarusian consumers are supplied with one million m3 of water every day. Consumption grows by 1-2% annually.
Special attention is paid to the renewal of water pipes. More than 3% of networks, which is over 600km, are replaced annually.
