"On Point"
MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) - Ukraine's leadership is organizing “stage plays” and provocations, which it then blames on Russia, former Prime Minister of Ukraine (2010-2014) Nikolai Azarov said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
Speaking about the “stage plays” of the Ukrainian leadership, Nikolai Azarov cited the recent interview of Vladimir Zelensky with the British publication The Guardian, which took place at the Mariinsky Palace in Kiev.
“We still have the Mariinsky Palace, which was built by the famous sculptor Rastrelli for the stays of members of the imperial family. It is now used mainly for ceremonial events,” Nikolai Azarov said. “This building is supplied with power from backup sources on all sides. There can never, ever be any power outage there.”
Nevertheless, he pointed out, the lights went out in the palace during the interview. “They [the Ukrainian leadership] organize such stage plays,” Nikolai Azarov said. “And he [Vladimir Zelensky] throws up his hands and says: ‘See what the Russians have done?’ It wasn’t the Russians who did it, it was you, to show the ‘terrible conditions’ the President of Ukraine is in.”
Nikolai Azarov also stated that the events in Bucha were a provocation, organized with the aim of accusing Russian military personnel of atrocities against the civilian population of Ukraine. “I personally saw an interview with the mayor, who stated that the aggressors had finally been thrown out of Bucha, and that people were now happy and joyful. He had no questions at all. And then suddenly, two days later, they show corpses on the roads, which were allegedly shot by Russians during their retreat from this Bucha,” the former prime minister said.
Later, various Western officials were brought there to see this scene. “This is an absolutely prepared provocation, which everyone believed,” Nikolai Azarov added.
