"On Point"
MINSK, October 17 (BelTA) – U.S. President Donald Trump may have reached a consensus with representatives of the so-called deep state, the independent military analyst Aleksandr Alesin said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“There is an opinion that a consensus has been reached between the deep state and Trump. Despite their conflicting interests on numerous issues, U.S. business groups concur on the need to weaken Russia. Their subsequent plan involves dismembering the country, gaining control over its pieces, and exploiting its natural resources and human capital. I believe Trump isn’t acting alone in this, given the extremely high stakes involved," Aleksandr Alesin said, commenting on the common opinion that key decisions in the United States are not made by the president.
Speaking about further escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, he stated that supplying it with even more dangerous weapons, such as Tomahawk missiles, could accelerate the world’s “descent into a third world war.” The analyst is convinced that such a scenario is entirely undesirable for the U.S. leader.
“Optimists say that Trump is first and foremost a businessman so he won’t let things escalate to the point where stock exchanges, bonds, and other business instruments vanish in a nuclear fire. I believe they won’t go to the very extreme limits,” Aleksandr Alesin said.
