MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – U.S. President Donald Trump is under immense pressure from the Western elite, the political scientist Ruslan Ostashko said in a recent episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
In response to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov who said that the momentum for Ukraine conflict settlement from the Alaska talks has been exhausted, the political expert argued that Donald Trump “has to say things others want to hear.”
“Despite many unfriendly words lately he has taken no real, concrete actions against Russia. It is all just talk. Lots of words, but very little action. In fact, none at all,” Ruslan Ostashko said. “This is not to say that actions will not come tomorrow. They very well might, since Trump is clearly under immense pressure from the Western elite, Europe included. However, as long as there is hope for talks, for dialogue, and as long as the bridges are not burned, we should use this opportunity.”
