"On Point"
MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – In a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel, Ukrainian military expert Yuri Dudkin offered his view on where the United States might stumble in its aggressive actions.
Discussing U.S. policy, Yuri Dudkin suggested the United States would most likely stumble in Iran and Cuba. “Whatever you say, Miguel Díaz‑Canel Bermúdez, the President of Cuba, has been conducting a series of nationwide military exercises in recent days. That is, Cuba is preparing for an invasion, and it’s not just a coincidence. Moreover, they’ve distributed weapons to everyone. The Cubans will defend their island to the death. They remember well the events of the mid-20th century, when, on John F. Kennedy’s orders, the Americans attempted to seize Cuba, destabilize it, and suffered a crushing defeat. That operation involved not regular American troops, but mercenaries, supported, naturally, by the leadership of the Central Intelligence Agency. Today, there’s no talk of mercenaries. Trump is talking about regular American troops, who, with the help of CIA operatives, are planning to seize Cuba. And then Nicaragua and other communist regimes Trump despises,” the military expert said.
He emphasized that this is precisely where the U.S. could stumble, though he did not rule out that America might eventually achieve its goal, but at a very heavy cost: “The fact is that the coffins with American soldiers will flood the United States, and this could destabilize the domestic situation in the U.S.”
“Iran isn’t going to give up so easily either,” added Yuri Dudkin. “An external aggression will trigger a rally ‘round the flag effect and Iranians will completely forget about this internal carnage. They will direct their efforts to defending the country from external invasion. I wouldn’t envy the United States in this regard.”
