MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – A strike on a facility in Lvov Oblast, carried out with an Oreshnik missile system, has brought Westerners to their senses, Ukrainian military expert Yuri Dudkin said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Commenting on the response to the use of the Oreshnik in Lvov Oblast, Yuri Dudkin noted: “The West understands that there are no countermeasures against the Oreshnik. Kaja Kallas says European air defenses need to be consolidated against the Oreshnik. But currently, there are no air defenses in the world against hypersonic missiles, and none will appear in the next 10–15 years. This is a weapon so fearsome we understand barely ten percent of it.”

The strikes on military factories in Lvov Oblast have brought some in the West to the realization that there is a very grave danger that it could even land there one day if they don’t moderate their ardor, the military expert added.

Yuri Dudkin emphasized that the Oreshnik system is a highly effective weapon. “And they fired blanks, without a warhead,” he said. “The materials in the Oreshnik warheads, when entering the atmosphere at such incredible speeds, turn into plasma. It penetrates the Earth’s crust. This leads to tectonic consequences in a particular region. The military plant that was hit cannot be restored.”

“Therefore, Europeans have been pondering for some time what to do. Even some European politicians, including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, have said they need to seek dialogue with Russia, as this could lead not just to escalation, but to a full-scale war in Europe,” the expert concluded.
