'A form of liberal fascism’. Expert explains what to expect from EU

MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) - Philosopher Aleksandr Dugin outlined the strengths and weaknesses of the European Union in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Responding to a question about the weakening of the EU’s strength amid differing internal opinions, economic problems, migration issues, and bureaucratic inertia, the expert noted that the modern European Union is strikingly different from its historical prototype. “Of course, today’s Europe is not the Europe of Napoleon, not the Europe of Hitler, not even the Poland of the 17th century. It is a completely different phenomenon, but I would not take its potential threats too lightly,” he said.

Nevertheless, the philosopher emphasized, the European Union is still 400 million people plus a fairly powerful economy. “What has been established there now is a form of liberal Nazism, liberal fascism, where liberal values and radical projects are promoted in society based on direct totalitarianism. Genuine totalitarian methods, only under a liberal ideology. And, in principle, such a totalitarian, disciplinary, specific society can mobilize. They may be strange troops, but they can mobilize the population simply by issuing orders. They are preparing for war with us, we must be ready for war with them. That is absolutely certain. We are already at war with them, they simply want to increase the degree of involvement in this war. And we need to consider our resources for this,” he said.

“Yes, the modern European Union is a pitiful sight; they have many problems. There is a chance that the population will revolt at some stage, because there is a sharp tightening of the screws, including from the standpoint of ordinary, familiar Western democracy. Or perhaps they will not revolt, but will succumb to this totalitarian propaganda. This is a very dangerous thing. We cannot count on the European Union collapsing, on it being dismantled by some more reasonable forces,” Aleksandr Dugin said.
