8th Belarusian Space Congress scheduled for 25-26 October

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – The 8th Belarusian Space Congress will take place at premises of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on 25-26 October, the academy's press service told BelTA.

The congress will take place at premises of the Informatics Institute and the A.V. Lykov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute. Participants of the congress are expected to hear out over 120 speeches by scientists and specialists from Belarus, Russia, China, and Uzbekistan. A big delegation is expected to come from Russia. It will include representatives of the state corporation Roscosmos, the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as representatives of enterprises and organizations operating in the sphere of space technologies.

The Informatics Institute will host an exhibition of R&D products for space applications. The products were made as a result of R&D programs and projects in the area of space exploration. An exposition of popular science literature focusing on space exploration will be arranged as well.

The purpose of the congress is to discuss new achievements in space industry, determine priority avenues of development of space activities, enhance international cooperation, expand joint efforts of Belarusian and foreign business circles, firms, companies, scientists and specialists aimed at fulfilling space programs and projects, analyze progress of their realization, and choose promising avenues for further research. The congress is also supposed to advance partnership of governmental and public organizations, enterprises, and organizations in using space means and technologies in the interests of various branches of economy.

The congress will be subdivided into five panel sessions. The first one will cover innovative programs, projects, and technologies relating to space rocket industry. The second one focuses on space vehicles, payloads, and scientific instruments. The third one covers solutions, technologies, and methods for processing and displaying remote Earth sensing data, geoservices based on the data, artificial intelligence applications in space industry. The fourth panel session will focus on technologies for training space industry personnel. The fifth panel session deals with thermophysical aspects of practical cosmonautics, space equipment parts and devices.

Participants of the congress are expected to discuss experience and prospects of development of space activities in the Union State of Belarus and Russia, results of Russian studies of the Earth group and the Moon, possibilities for cooperation in this area. Materials concerning the development of small space vehicles at the Russian leading rocket industry enterprise Space Rocket Center RKTs-Progress will be perused. Results of fulfillment, encountered problems, and experience of assimilation of results of realization of the Union State program Monitoring-SG will be presented. Scientific support and software for automating joint usage of data fed by the orbital constellation of Belarusian and Russian satellites for the remote sensing of Earth in the course of carrying out appropriate tasks will be presented.

The 8th Belarusian Space Congress has been organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the academy's Space Research Agency, and the academy's Informatics Institute.
