542 Ukrainians enter Belarus in past 24 hours

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – For the past 24 hours, 542 citizens of Ukraine entered Belarus, of them 118 came to the country through the EU, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee.

From 6.00 on 21 March to 6.00 on 22 March, 424 citizens of Ukraine arrived in Belarus from the territory of Ukraine. In addition to that, 110 people passed in transit through Poland, 6 through Lithuania and another 2 through Latvia.

According to the State Border Committee, the Belarusian side offers Ukrainian citizens temporary accommodation. The Belarus Red Cross and the Gomel Oblast branch of the Emergencies Ministry have mounted a heating unit. Arrivals are immediately provided with necessary help. A similar point was set up near the Poddobryanka checkpoint in Gomel Oblast.

Belarusian checkpoints are operating in a routine mode. Ukraine suspended the operation of its checkpoints on the border with Belarus.
