38th brigade chief: Troops are upbeat and task-focused during drill

BREST, 10 February (BelTA) - Military personnel must be ready to carry out any task, Valery Bulygo, commander of the 38th Independent Guards Air Assault Brigade in Brest, commented on the ongoing snap inspection of the Armed Forces, BelTA has learned.

In accordance with the Armed Forces inspection plan and by the decision of the head of state, the 38th brigade was placed on its highest state of alert on 10 February. Its units will carry out tasks according to their designated purpose under complex tactical conditions. Subsequently, each service member and unit will be evaluated based on the results of control exercises in marksmanship and physical training. In particular, the paratroopers will perform test firing with all types of weapons and exercises for endurance and strength.
According to Valery Bulygo, the 38th brigade anticipated that the Armed Forces inspection would involve its units. “Naturally, we did not expect it to happen precisely today,” emphasized the commander. “All service members of the formation are prepared for inspections of any kind. We must be ready for anything. The personnel are upbeat and, despite the weather conditions, are successfully carrying out specific tasks. I believe we will not let down the brigade, nor the special operations forces in general, during the report to the head of state on the inspection results.”
Representatives of the State Secretariat of the Security Council delivered an order to the commander of the 38th Air Assault Brigade this morning, signed by the head of state, to bring the brigade’s military units and subunits to their highest state of combat readiness. “During this period, the brigade was conducting scheduled combat training activities. In particular, the main part of the units had just finished scheduled physical training sessions. One of the military units currently stationed at the training ground was, so to speak, caught by surprise during a marksmanship training session - it received the signal to assume the highest combat readiness. One of this unit’s subunits is already on the march to an area it is ordered to occupy according to a combat directive and subsequently carry out a number of actions there,” explained Valery Bulygo.
