Kazakhstan's Shymkent takes over as CIS Capital of Culture

Brest passed the title of the CIS Capital of Culture over to Kazakhstan's Shymkent in a ceremony on 9 December.

About 60 major book events were held in our countries, including contests, fairs, exhibitions, festivals and conferences. The CIS Executive Committee arranged a mobile exhibition dedicated to the history of book publishing in the member states.

Belarus has risen by three positions and now shares 50th place with Kazakhstan on the the global ranking of human development among 189 countries. Belarus is among the countries with a high level of human development, UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus Alexandra Solovieva said.

Transboundary cycling track to connect Augustow Canal, Belovezhskaya Pushcha under consideration

The track will be located on both sides of the Belarusian-Polish border. It will be kind of a ring that will allow travelers on bicycles to visit two popular tourist attractions located in Belarus and Poland. Work to implement the project may begin in 2020.
