ZHITKOVICHI, 7 November (BelTA) - Belarus has preserved and modernized the October Revolution Day holiday, which is celebrated on 7 November, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a working trip to Zhitkovichi District, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that it is a good holiday and there is no need to abandon it: “We have about 30% of people who respect this holiday. We don’t want any more revolutions, but there are people who view this holiday positively. So, let them have this holiday. We will remember that such a holiday existed. We must not forget the past. We must not hurt the people who are on pension today and are leaving this life. Let them know that we are worthy successors of their work.”
“It’s a good holiday. We’ve modernized it,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that there is nothing wrong, for example, with the fact that marking this holiday Minsk Motor Plant produced a new, high-quality engine based on components from Zhitkovichi Engine-Building Plant.
“What’s wrong with us completing a bridge [a renovated bridge over the Pripyat River was opened in Mozyr yesterday?] If we hadn’t gone there yesterday, Ivan Ivanovich [Krupko, Gomel Oblast Governor] would have been doing the finishing touches until spring. But this way, we gave it a push, and it got done. It’s the same all over the country,” the president said.

“Happy October Revolution Day! I wish you health and happiness. All the rest can be bought,” the head of state concluded.
