MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – Belarusians are capable of earning what they do not have and they will surely do it. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during the ceremony held on 12 January to present Spiritual Revival awards, special prizes to art luminaries, and Belarusian Sports Olympus awards, BelTA has learned.
After making his speech during the ceremony and after presenting the awards Aleksandr Lukashenko once again mentioned the recently deceased Metropolitan Filaret, Honorary Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “There are some good and kind moments in one's life and then there are sad ones. And then one starts wondering about the meaning of life. I will lay it down plain and simple: life is so short, let's do everything to avoid wasting this time on idle talk, unnecessary things, even more so on destruction. God forbid if amid this worldwide craziness we lose what we will never recover. We shouldn't lose, shouldn't destroy with our own hands what you and I have accomplished together in the last quarter of the century!”
The president stressed that Belarus and the entire world are now experiencing a wave of lies and it is necessary to live through it. “We say that we are wise and talented. Then let's be wise and talented. I wish tenacity, courage, and never to hurry to our creative people and our clergy. It doesn't mean that you should think just like I do, just like the head of the church, just like all the people, who sit on this stage with gifts, do. No. But you should take your time before making conclusions. A great deal depends on our words. Don't rush so that afterwards you wouldn't feel pain and live a shameful life in this society you and I have built together. We should decently travel along this road and save our country for future generations,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The head of state noted that Metropolitan Filaret, Honorary Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus had lived for 85 years. It may seem like a lot. “But I recall our first meetings and can say it was just a brief moment. It's nothing, not even a brief moment from the point of view of history. Life is very short: take care of each other, show an example of how one should live a life to your children so that their lives would be a bit easier. I wish you happiness, strong health, and a life without quarrels. We have everything. We will earn what we don't have. We are capable of doing it and we will surely do it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko concluded.
