Lukashenko to visit Turkey in H1 2019

MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is expected to pay a visit to Turkey in the first half of 2019, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Binali Yildirim on 13 November, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich emphasized complete understanding between the parliaments of the two countries that will be well prepared for the visit of the Belarusian president to Turkey. “The visit is scheduled for the first half of 2019,” he informed.

Mikhail Myasnikovich was optimistic about the future of the interparliamentary relations. He praised the talks with his Turkish counterpart as very constructive. Top on the agenda was security in Europe and the world. In this regard, Mikhail Myasnikovich recalled security-related initiatives of Belarus' leader that drew at lot of attention.

The parties also discussed joint projects in trade, logistics, banking and education.

Earlier Binali Yildirim had met with top officials of the National Assembly of Belarus. He noted at the meeting that important decisions are to be made and new agreements are to be discussed during Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Turkey.
