MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – During the ceremony to present the State Quality Mark awards on 20 January, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko suggested promoting linen products for export, BelTA has learned.
Based on the results of 2025, the State Quality Mark has been awarded to the semi-linen softened blanket from the Orsha Linen Mill. This is already the second such award for the enterprise. The first one was presented a year ago for one of its bedding items.
The president was informed that the Orsha blanket has already become a national souvenir, with many tourists purchasing it as a keepsake. Over the past year alone, sales of these blankets amounted to $1.4 million, a record for the enterprise. In general, the mill retained its position as the world’s second-largest exporter of linen fabrics, reaching the $100 million mark.
“Thank you, well done! Linen is generally very popular. If you make an effort (the product has some recognizability but it needs more), people in the southern regions where flax is not cultivated, will gladly buy it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
