MOSCOW, 14 March (BelTA) – Ukraine made a proposal to create prisoner-of-war camps in Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with TV presenter Olga Skabeyeva for the Rossiya 1 TV channel, BelTA learned.
“They had this idea to set up camps for prisoners of war on the territory of Belarus. It was a proposal from Ukraine. They suggested Belarus run these camps that would hold Ukrainian and Russian POWs,” the head of state said about the proposal. “Under the terms of their proposal, Belarus should remain neutral and make sure that camps are in order, provided for, and that the wounded are treated.”
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, when the issue of financing came up, the Ukrainian side replied: “We will find the money.”
“I told them to reach out to the Russians. Once there is an agreement, we will be happy to help,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
