Lukashenko pledges to honor every agreement with Russia

MINSK, 24 December (BelTA) – All the agreements reached with Russia will be implemented, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview to editor-in-chief of the Ekho Moskvy radio station Aleksei Venediktov on 24 December, BelTA learned.

The head of state was asked whether he, as the president, plans to implement the agreements with Russia and take part in the forthcoming presidential election. “You may consider it trivial, but it is a sincere answer: if people elect me president, I will be working to implement all the agreements, all the plans. Everything we agree on with Russia will be implemented,” the Belarusian leader said.

“If I am the resident of Belarus, with the powers that the president has now, I will, first of all, see to it that the integration projects are implemented," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He noted that many people in Russia do not know what modern Belarus is and this creates problems on the integration track. “The whole problem of the integration (this paragraph can embrace all the issues of our relations), especially in Russia is that you have absolutely no idea what modern Belarus is and what the country lives by. You know what mass media report about Belarus and the president of Belarus... You are well aware how these things are. I just wonder why,” the president said.
