Lukashenko plants first tree in People’s Unity Park

MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) -  Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko planted the first tree in the People’s Unity Park during the national subbotnik (clean-up day) on 12 April, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and student construction brigades will plant an alley of 80 trees symbolizing the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The president planted the first tree and conducted a workshop on planting. Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the people working with him are skilled in everything: planting trees, mowing grass, chopping wood.
The tree is placed in a hole and secured with stakes. The head of state hammered the stakes into the ground, after which the tree was covered with soil and watered.

"This is the perfect tree planting technology!" the president addressed the youth. His youngest son Nikolai also participated in planting trees.
"They told me to plant 12 trees on Cosmonautics Day - so I planted 12," the president said.

The construction of the Belarusian National History Museum is underway near Orlovskaya Street on the site of the former Dreamland theme park. The project documentation has already been developed. Construction and installation works started in February 2025. Excavation works have already been completed. Piles for the foundation are currently being installed.
