Lukashenko: People have to know that municipal authorities see ways of development

VITEBSK, 15 December (BelTA) – The situation in the real sector of the Vitebsk Oblast economy gives reasons for concern. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he presented the new Vitebsk Oblast governor on 15 December, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Unfortunately, the situation in the real sector of the Vitebsk Oblast economy is having a negative effect on living standards of citizens. Pay attention to the level of revenues of the population. Vitebsk Oblast offers the lowest average salary among all the regions. Every fifth worker is paid less than Br600 per month. How are you going to retain people? It must not happen.”

It is no surprise that these conditions hold little appeal for the region's population, the president noted. “The new governor and you have to build up the residents' trust in the oblast administration. People have to believe that you see ways of development and are capable of realizing them,” the head of state added.
